With beautiful smiles, students of Northrise University are back to school. From the beginning of winter students were on recess. While on break, a number of students took the occasion to be interns in various companies within and outside of Ndola, to gain industry experience as well as raise part of their tuition for the second semester. Others took the opportunity to visit relatives living in distant places and others concentrated on fortifying bonds with family and friends.

Walking down the stairs or the hallway, you can’t help but glance in the direction of outbursts of laughter; their faces are radiant and their smiles are real. They all seem eager for more knowledge. What a joy to have them back! And Northrise staff and faculty are ready to serve them. |

Northrise University Scoops 2nd Prize in Best Training Providers Exhibit! |
|
From June 28 to July 3rd, Northrise University participated in the Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF). ZITF is an annual commercial platform that attracts organizations and various traders from all over Zambia, Africa and beyond. The theme that this year’s exhibitors had to interpret was ‘Creating Synergies beyond Borders’.
Being its first exhibit ever, NU’s primary focus was to attract prospective students and disperse information about the institution to the general public. Knowing an opportunity to participate in and compete for the Best Training Providers award made it even more exciting. An exhibition space was acquired and everyone involved went to work.
In line with the theme, the presentation concentrated on the International partnerships that NU now enjoys. We spoke about the active student exchange programs that we share. And to hit the nail on the head, Dr. Taylor, the Student Exchange Coordinator at Dordt, who was visiting Northrise at that period, spared some time in order to shed more light on this from Dordt’s perspective. The judges appreciated this. Other items that were mentioned were the current online programs that NU offers not only to Zambians, but to international students. The judges were impressed with our presentation and it was easy to see that they recognized how unique Northrise is compared to other universities in Zambia who are yet to possess such significant and valuable collaborations.
To our surprise, we scooped the 2nd Prize in the Best Training Providers Exhibit category! And for next year, we will aim for Gold.

Northrise University 5th Graduation Ceremony |
|

On 21st of April 2012, all roads lead to the Northrise University (NU) Main Campus on the Kitwe-Ndola highway where the 5th NU Graduation Ceremony was taking place outside Kuhula House. From the exotic regalia worn by the graduands and other officiating guests and faculty to the interior graceful décor inside the tent, the graduation ceremony had a touch of grandeur.
The graduands were certified as eligible for graduation and presented as graduates. Each of them walked majestically and doffed (tip one’s hat) to the Chancellor (Dr. David Lawson – NU Deputy Chancellor) then with enthusiasm received their certificates, diplomas and degrees. That, a moment of pride and joy! A filling of satisfaction and achievement! Shouts of joy resounded around the tent as families, friends and other witnesses applauded to recognize their hard work.
After the awarding of diplomas, the valedictorian took to the podium and charged her fellow graduates to be kind and aspire to make the world a better place. Pastor Rob Buckingham, the executive pastor of Baysight Church who graced the occasion with his presence as Guest of Honor, encouraged both graduates and guests that even in the midst of wickedness and suffering we must become relevant to our communities and pray for SHALOM in the city of Ndola. In his address, Dr. Moffat Zimba (President and Vice Chancellor of NU), charged the graduates to work hard as they go forth and press on to a bright future as true ambassadors of Northrise University. To end the ceremony, Mrs. Doreen Zimba (Vice President of NU) thanked the graduates for having made the choice to attain a quality education at Northrise University and gave glory to God for being their sustainer and provider.
Northrise University is proud and continues to celebrate their achievement. |
