INSTRUCTOR – INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Job Objective:
To teach as well as participate in general academic programmes of the university.

Main Duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible to carry out research, teaching and administration within the school/department IT scope.

  • To teach IT and the areas allocated by the Academic Dean / Head of ICT Studies.

  • Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality IT curriculum.

  • To assist in the development of learning materials, schemes of work as well as monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.

  • To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments.

  • Maintain professional relationships with all students and able to provide pastoral care and support to students.

  • To contribute to the departmental, school, faculty, working groups or committees as requested by the Academic Dean / Head of ICT Studies.

  • To maintain own continuing professional development.

  • To help in planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the IT supporting infrastructure.

  • Help in the provision of IT infrastructure services including desktop applications, Local and or Wide area networks, IT security and implementation. Oversees troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary.

  • To help oversees and/or undertake the maintenance and management of hardware and software and all system application of email, IT networking, internet connection and operations applications.

Requirement:
  • Candidate must have a degree in Business IT, E-Business and/or Information Technology.

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with strong command in written and spoken English.

  • Strong object oriented programming skills, especially in PHP, C++, C, VB.Net and Java.

  • Extensive practical knowledge in database design, implementation and maintenance.

  • Possesses initiative, the ability to think independently and a passion for academic excellence.

  • Previous teaching at undergraduate level

  • Practical experience at supervisory level in industry

  • Highly motivated and must be able to work as a team.

Other:
  • A Masters degree in IT and/or qualification in a Microsoft certified programme will be an added advantage.
